Visiting as a Guest

Guests are offered a unique Camping Eco-Experience in a simpler, raw and wild environment.  An integral part of the sights and sounds of La Joya Del Sol are our gorgeous waterfalls, some of the best and easiest accessed in Costa Rica.

As a guest, this is a rare opportunity to camp in the great outdoors in a jungle environment and still enjoy some of the best whole, plant-based food imaginable. A symphony of sounds of natural wildlife, tropical breezes and gorgeous sunsets become part of daily life. This is a tranquil place to wind down and let the rhythms of nature soothe and realign you. Our grounds include many well-maintained and marked trails, which you can explore or visit other local eco-attractions.

We welcome those who love  to live and learn our unique natural lifestyle and evolving eco-community. Guests are always willing to take part in harvesting, meal prep as a unique lifestyle learning experience. If you want to learn more, just ask!

Daily Rate includes:

• Low fat, salt-oil-sugar-free gourmet raw or healthy heated vegan meals – Masterpiece “spoothie” breakfast or simple fruits in season, hearty lunch, light supper. Guests delight in, and are expected to help prepare meals and clean up in this communal kitchen.
• Fresh, local or homegrown fruits or greens are available for snacks. Bring your own nuts/seeds/dried fruits/supplements for extra caloric snacks or conditions.
• Sheltered, raised bamboo tent platform or sheltered ground site, camping tent, 3 or 6″ mattress available, linens. You may bring your own tent / bedding / towels
• Those on juice-only cleanses may be charged an additional $10 per juicing day only if there is an extra volume of food required.

Open orchard camping with your own tent/rain tarp: $35 /day /person

Covered bamboo tent platform: $50 /day /person

Large stand-up family tent for up to 4 with 2 bunk beds, 1 double bed, electricity & water stub, $50/day/person

Private bamboo and cob cabin for up to 2 with floating double bed , tile floor, spring water faucet, dry composting toilet, lights and electricity, $55/day/person

Children under 2 stay free.

There is a community washroom with natural spring water and solar-heated hot showers. Guests also enjoy cleaning their bodies and hair naturally in the massaging waterfalls and cleansing their skin with fine sediment clay scrubs at the natural pools.

Laundry machine service with bio-degradable non-allergenic soap is available for $5 per load,
$3 if a load if shared with others. The outdoor solar clothes dryer is free to all.

We recommend guests wanting to do a lot of day-tripping to see surrounding sites close by and use La Joya Del Sol as a base to hire a 4WD car for the duration of their stay. It’s always possible to connect you to arrange transportation on local buses, taxis, and neighbors with tours to Diamante Falls, Nauyaca Falls, Manuel Antonio Park, Pacific beaches, Canopy tours, and on-going local community activities. Fees vary. We cannot always offer transportation with our roomy farm car, but when you do share a ride, the nominal gas share charge ranges from $2 to $10 per person depending on distance to destinations within 1 hour from the farm.

POLICIES

A 25% USD non-refundable deposit via Paypal (bank transfers in rare cases) to emrivkin@gmail.com will secure your reservation. You are responsible to pay service fees, including all bank transfer fees, using “friends/family” is a good option.

The balance of the full reservation is due upon arrival either in USD or Colones cash. Sorry, we cannot take credit cards. Extended stays, conversions to guest rates from internships, or long term residency can be negotiated for a discount, depending on work or skill trades.

3-night minimum stay. For reservations over 30 nights, payment in full is required for the agreed upon length of the reservation. There is a lot to prepare, and we have to turn down potential guests to honor your needs.

If you do not complete your full reservation as a guest only, payment for remaining nights will be refunded, by cash or Paypal at LJDS’s choice.

Incidental expenses such as ride sharing, excursions, or product sales are paid when incurred.

In order to reduce electro-pollution, we now require all overnight visitors with a WIFI device to bring a shielded ethernet cable of 25ft with the necessary adapters if you want to connect to our WIFI router. Otherwise you can obtain a SIM card for your smart phone or computer with service at ICE KOLBI (only available service) sellers to have your own connection.

LJDS has a policy of “zero tolerance” of no drugs, alcohol, smoking, or any actions that deliberately harm or disrespect personal peace, health, property, or the environment. If violated, it could result in expulsion with no refund.
